The 2001 J Class National Championship Regatta
The Region 1 Championship Regatta is August 4 and 5 at Mystic Seaport, CT.
hosted by the Marblehead MYC.
The National Championship regatta is October 6 and 7 in Phoenix, AZ and is
hosted by the West Valley R/C Mariners.
Before making plans to go to Phoenix I wanted to make sure it was
possible to get the boat there. Two weeks of driving isn't in the cards.
But, I found a company that will ship the J for under $50 each way.
In case anyone needs details for next year, contact
www.forwardair.com. Southwest Air wanted $170 each way.

The 2000 J Class National Championship Regatta
The 2000 J Class National Championship Regatta was held at the Mystic Seaport
Museum on July 29 in conjunction with a three day model yacht display and sailing
demonstration that took place over July 28, 29 and 30. The event was co-hosted by
the AMYA and the U.S. Vintage Model Yacht Group. In addition, the Mystic Seaport
Museum provided the space for the display, the boat shop where the schooner "Amistad"
was built, as well as much of the physical support such as tables and chairs,
retrieve boat and electrical power, that was needed to put on the event.
The event was a huge success by any measure. The Mystic Seaport Museum was
delighted with the displays and sailing and the hobby/sport of model yachting
was shown to several thousand spectators each day of the event.
Start getting your J boats ready for the National Championship Regatta in 2001.
The regatta will be hosted by the West Valley R/C Mariners and will be held
October 6 and 7, 2001. The sailing site will be The Estrella Mountain Ranch just
west of Phoenix, AZ.
